Successful orchid growing requires the right amount of light. The leaves and flowers of your orchid plant can actually be burned if there is too much light. Particularly when the flowers are in bloom, it is essential that they not receive direct sunlight. However, they will not thrive if they do not receive enough light, so you should make sure they do receive some filtered light. Besides the right amount of light, you also need to ensure that your plants are kept at the right temperature.

Learn How To Care For Your Orchids

Orchids are some of the most amazing plants which you can care for. There is so many different species which you can purchase now. Its very important that you learn how you care for orchids properly. This should be done even before you've bought your plant.

Choosing the perfect species for your house can mean so many things to the choice of your orchid. You need to know some important factors to the temperatures around your house at night. The average orchid needs the minimum of around 45 to 55 degrees F at night but others would thrive better at 65. There are other species which would do better with temperatures between these.

Orchid's rely on the best lighting for their needs. You can use an east of south facing window to place your plant near, as this will be best as it allows the most sunlight. Remember though you can't have them in direct sunlight. Orchids don't cope very well in direct sunlight. Don't worry though if you don't get much sunlight as you can use grow lights within your house.

These are tropical plants and they are also part of the Epiphyte family which means they don't need actual soil to grow. In the natural habitat they cling onto trees or rocks to grow. So remember when choosing your growing medium that you need something for them to anchor their roots, which allows the water to run off allowing air to flow.

Getting the watering done correctly is very important to get right, you don't want to water more than once a week, sometimes this can be even longer depending on the species. Some need the water to drain off quickly where as some prefer to stay moist between watering times.

Orchids need the correct humidity to thrive and bloom. Normally this is between 60 and 80 percent. Don't worry if your house doesn't get up to this, there are little tricks which you can carry out to archive this goal. In some cases you can just spray your orchid with a fine mist.

The temperatures can vary depending on the species which you have but on a average, you need between 75 - 85 degrees F in the day and between 45 - 65 in the evening.

Because your orchid doesn't have rich nutrient soil to grow in, using fertilizers can be tricky. You can use certain fertilizers for this such as ones for orchids or even tropical fertilizers but only on a periodic time scale.

These tips are the most important things you need to know when caring for orchids properly. Following these and you should find that your orchid is starting to bloom time after time. These are such a fascinating flower and know you can enjoy them to the full.
